One curiosity after another

1.  National Parks – the National Archives’ Youtube channel has a section on the national parks, showing a series of films made in the 1930s by the Department of the Interior. Also see the TVA, reclamation, indian Country.

2.  An undergrad lecture series by Richard Slotkin of Wesleyan on westerns, available as video podcasts.  Click on the grey “Wesleyan on iTunes U“; alternately, go through iTunes podcasts in the store to iTunes U.  The class is called “Western Movies: Myth, Ideology, and Genre.”  Slotkin is an expert on the West in American culture, and well worth listening to.  You’ll learn a lot.
